Discuss overnight non-clinical or nursing support according to the person’s needs and the confirmed role.
Night-time support can be considered where a person needs help with agreed daily routines, comfort or planned care during overnight hours.
Clarify the hours, expected duties, sleep/rest arrangement if applicable, family contact and what should happen if the patient becomes unwell.
Night-time attendant support is not equivalent to continuous clinical observation or emergency medical care.
