JNS HOME CARE AND NURSING SERVICESFamily and Caregiver Communication
Ideas for making everyday communication clearer during a home-care arrangement.
These articles provide general planning information only. They do not offer diagnosis, treatment or clinical instructions and do not replace advice from a treating healthcare professional.
Nominate one primary contact
Agree who will coordinate routine updates, schedule questions and non-urgent changes.
Use clear handovers
A simple agreed handover can cover tasks completed, routine concerns and items that need follow-up, while avoiding unnecessary sensitive information.
Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
Caregivers should not diagnose or make treatment decisions. Concerns should be shared through the agreed route and clinical advice sought from the treating team.
Review the arrangement
If the person’s preferences or support needs change, review the agreed duties and schedule with JNS and, where relevant, the treating team.
